Sewer Rate Increase Included in February Bill
February 2015's Water/Sewer bill reflects the twenty percent (20%) sewer rate increase adopted by the city council at the December 12, 2015 City Council meeting for metered water usage beginning January 1, 2016. Household Hazardous Waste Collection
The Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments will sponsor a Household Hazardous Waste collection from 8:00 AM - Noon on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Nodaway County Maintenance Barn. ID required. A fee of $5.00 per car will be collected.
Open Burn Period Extended
Due to rain and wind in early April, the open burn period scheduled for April 1-14 has been extended through April 30, 2015. Materials permitted to be burned include leaves, small twigs and grass clippings.

Water Billing Office to Be Closed Friday Afternoon
The Water Billing Office will be closed after 1:00 pm on Friday, April 3, 2015 due to some building renovation work. The office will be open as usual on Friday morning, and will reopen on Monday, April 6 at 8:00 am.

Water Bills Can Now Be Paid Online
Beginning in July 2014, you can now pay your water bill online via a secure website: https://www.municipalonlinepayments.com/maryvillemo. A $1.25 transaction fee is added to each transaction. When setting up a new account, you will need to know your water account number and your last payment amount. Both of these are listed on your bill.

The City of Maryville, Missouri has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its FY 2014 Budget. Mozingo Lake Recreation Park Master Plan

Junior Golf Course Committee Secures Donation from Wadsworth Golf Charities Foundation
On Tuesday, December 3rd the Wadsworth Golf Charities Foundation announced their decision to become a partner in the Tom Watson Junior Golf Course at Mozingo Lake Recreation Park. This partnership will provide the Junior Golf Course Committee at Mozingo Lake with discounted resources for course construction. Depot Street Ribbon Cutting
A ribbon cutting ceremony for the Depot Street Improvement Project has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., near the north end of the street.
4th Street Preliminary Design Public Meeting
A public meeting for the 4th Street redesign project has been set for 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 10th at the Wesley Student Center on the Northwest Missouri State University campus located at 549 W. 4th Street. New Water, Sewer Rates Approved by Council
On August 26, 2013, the City Council passed an ordinance raising the water and sewer rates to help offset the additional debt service for construction of the sewer treatment plant. These new rates will be reflected on the bill you receive November 1, 2013. The new rate schedule is detailed below.

Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday
The City of Maryville will once again participate in the Missouri sales tax holiday from Friday, August 2, 2013 through midnight Sunday, August 4. This means a break from both Maryville city and Missouri state taxes on qualifying back-to-school items during that period.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) is pleased to announce that City of Maryville, Missouri has received the GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its budget.
Redevelopment Program Announced
Applications are now available for the Campus Town Redevelopment Incentive Program (CTRIP). The program is designed to encourage the demolition of sub-standard housing and foster new construction in an area defined as the Campus Town Overlay.
Open Burning Extended
Due to recent cool temperatures, rain and snow, the open burn period scheduled for April 1-14 is being extended through the month of May 2013.
Fourth Street Corridor Project Wins Additional Funding
The City of Maryville and Northwest Missouri State University’s Fourth Street Corridor Project received a new boost of funding this week, when Nodaway County Economic Development (NCED) through the Missouri Department of Economic Development was awarded Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) Tax Credits for the project. The credits will contribute $487,000 toward the Fourth Street Corridor Project.
Public Forum TONIGHT on Bar Admission Age
The next Public Forum regarding whether to change the minimum age of admission to Maryville bars and taverns from 19 to 21 years old will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at 7:00 p.m., at the Maryville Community Center at, 1407 North Country Club Road. Citizens are urged to attend to present their views.
Public Hearing: Mozingo Recreation Facilities
An open meeting will be held on Monday, April 15, 2013, at 5:30 p.m., to discuss the development and renovation of recreational facilities at Mozingo Lake Park. The meeting will be held at City Hall, 415 North Market Street, Maryville, Missouri.
National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day
On Saturday, April 27, 2013, Nodaway County residents can dispose of unused and expired prescription drugs at the Maryville Wallmart as part of the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection on April 6
The Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments is planning to hold a Household Hazardous Waste collection in Maryville on Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 8 am to noon at the Nodaway County Maintenance Barn, 1516 E. Halsey Street. There will also be a pesticide roundup at the same time.
Solid Waste District to Fund Recycling Projects
The Northwest Missouri Regional Solid Waste Management District has announced the availability of grant funds from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources to fund recycling and waste reduction projects in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors throughout Atchison, Gentry, Holt, Nodaway, and Worth Counties. The application deadline is 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013.
Mozingo Grand ReOpening April 6
Mozingo Lake Recreation Park in Maryville, Mo., will host a grand reopening event from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 6th. Events throughout the day will include a 5k run/walk, fishing tournament (6 a.m. start), bounce house, family games and activities, bus tours of park amenities, golf course hole prizes, live radio remotes, and much more. Early Birdie 5K at Mozingo
The Early Birdie 5k is the first event scheduled to kick off the Mozingo Re-Opening Celebration on April 6. Following the 5k, patrons can enjoy food, live music, inflatables, golfing, park tours, and live radio remotes.
Hospital to Middle School Trail Scheduled for Construction
A Notice to Proceed has been issued for March 18, 2013 to Andrew Spire Construction, LLC for the construction of STP-9900 (113), Phase M, Hospital to Middle School Trail. Construction of the project should be complete within ninety (90) days of the Notice to Proceed.
Munn Avenue Closure Notice
As part of the project to reconstruct the deteriorated South Munn Avenue roadway, Munn Avenue will be closed to thru traffic from South Avenue to the north Maryville High School entrance, beginning approximately March 15, 2013 through May 15, 2013. During this time, the Maryville High School will be accessible by Munn Avenue from the south by using Highway V.
Boil Advisory Lifted
The Boil Advisory issued Monday night for the City of Maryville has now been lifted. A total of ten (10) samples were taken and lab results report they were bacteria free. The water is now considered safe for normal consumption.
Boil Advisory Update
The City of Maryville issued a Boil Advisory Monday night as a precautionary measure. The northern and southwestern sections of town experienced low pressure for a brief period of time. System pressure was restored late last night and anyone experiencing continued low pressure should call the Maryville Water Plant at 660-562-3713. The City takes the health and well-being of its citizens seriously and therefore issued the precautionary advisory.
Snow Emergency: On-Street Parking Limited
The City of Maryville declared a snow emergency, in effect as of Tuesday morning, February 26, 2013 until further notice. This means that the parking of vehicles along emergency snow routes is prohibited in order to facilitate snow-removal efforts. Vehicles parked on these routes will be towed.
Boil Advisory in Maryville
The City is advising residents to boil their water before consumption due to a loss of pressure at the Maryville Water Plant. The boil advisory will most likely be in effect until Thursday morning.
Fourth Street Project Awarded DOT Transportation Enhancement Funds
The City of Maryville is pleased to announce that the Transportation Enhancement (TE) Committee of the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has awarded $240,000 toward pedestrian improvements along the Fourth Street corridor. Christmas Tree Drop Off Until Jan. 20
The City of Maryville is providing residents the opportunity to drop off and recycle their Christmas trees at two locations until Jan 20, 2013.
Maryville Comprehensive Plan Adopted
On December 19, 2012 ,the Maryville Planning & Zoning Commission unanimously voted to adopt the Maryville Comprehensive Plan as the official plan to guide all future aspects of development and redevelopment in the community. A copy of the plan is available online.
Public Meeting Set for Munn Trail Project
Preliminary design is nearly complete on the South Munn Street Pedestrian Trail Project, Phase I. Before submitting plans to MoDOT for approval, the City of Maryville will hold a public meeting for citizens and residents along this corridor to provide input on the design. A public meeting for this project has been set for 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 10th in the City Council Chambers at Maryville City Hall.

City & University Move Forward with Fourth Street Improvement Project Design
The City of Maryville and Northwest Missouri State University are moving forward on a joint partnership to begin engineering and design of the Fourth Street Improvement Project. The City Council approved an engineering contract with SK Design Group, Inc.
Public Meetings Set for Trail Projects
Preliminary design is now complete on two (2) trail projects partially funded through the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) Transportation Enhancement (TE) Program. Meetings will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 27 and Thursday, Nov. 29 for residents along these corridors and other interested parties.
Mozingo Reservation Phone Change
The city has changed the phone number for making reservations for Mozingo Lake cabins, RV sites, shelter houses, the youth camp, and fishing tournaments. The reservation line is now 660-562-2323.

South Depot Construction - Public Meeting

Munn Avenue Reconstruction Public Meeting Sept. 26
The City of Maryville and SK Design Group, Inc. will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, September 26th at 6:00 p.m. in the Maryville High School commons area. The meeting will allow interested persons the opportunity to view and comment on plans for an upcoming construction project to reconstruct the deteriorated Munn Avenue roadway, from South Avenue to Missouri State Highway V.
Maryville Water Treatment Plant to Change Disinfection Methods
Starting in October of 2012 Maryville Water Treatment will be changing its process for drinking water disinfection from using chlorine to chloramines. Chloramination is a widespread, common and older means of disinfection. Though safe, there are two specific groups of users that should take special care with chloraminated water: Kidney Dialysis Patients and Owners of Live Fish or Other Aquatic Animals.
Council Adopts Performance Goals
All City Council members and City Department Heads met on July 24, 2012 to formulate and prioritize key performance areas and organizational goals for the upcoming fiscal year. The resulting goals are articulated in a document titled City Council Goals 2012-2013.
City Creates Zoning Overlay Districts
In July, the City Council approved ordinances to create Zoning Overlay Districts in the Northwest quadrant of town to assist in proper growth and addressing the conversion of single-family homes into rental units.
July 4 Fireworks
Maryville's 15th Annual Fireworks Display begins at dusk on July 4, 2012, at Mozingo Lake Park dam. Residents should remember that the use of fireworks within the city is prohibited at any time except July 4 between the hours of 8:00 am and 11:00 pm. Bottle rockets are prohibited at all times.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection April 21
The Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments will hold a Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Waste Collection on Saturday, April 21, 2012 in Nodaway County. The collections are open to residents of Atchison, Gentry, Holt, Nodaway, and Worth Counties only. The event will be held from 8 a.m. until noon at the Nodaway County Maintenance Barn located at 1516 E. Halsey, Maryville, MO 64468.
Update: Wastewater Bond Issue Passes
On April 3, 2012, Maryville voters passed a $13.7 million bond issue needed to build a government-mandated waste-water treatment plant. Passage of the bond issue clears the way for construction of a new mechanical plant that will replace the city's antiquated lagoon-based system, which no longer meets state and federal standards for removal of ammonia. The bond issue passed with 86% of the votes cast.

When advertising a garage sale in Maryville, please be aware that city laws regulate the location, size, placement and timing of signs advertising such events. All signs are to be removed within 24 hours of the end of the garage sale.

Residents are encourage to be on the lookout for "storm chasers." Such companies generally use high-pressure sales tactics, ask for cash up front, may have out-of-state drivers licenses or plates, be unable to produce local references, and have no proof of workers’ compensation insurance. Often, they perform shoddy work.
Residents Urged to Use Caution when Contracting Repairs
The City of Maryville suggests that property owners preparing to hire a contractor to repair homes and property seek referrals from friends, get bids from reputable contractors, insist on a written contract, verify the contractor's license with the city and withhold final payment until the entire project is finalized and inspected.
