On August 26, 2013, the City Council passed an ordinance raising the water and sewer rates to help offset the additional debt service for construction of the sewer treatment plant. These new rates will be reflected on the bill you receive November 1, 2013. The new rate schedule is detailed below.
On August 26, 2013, the City Council passed an ordinance raising water rates to pay for continual upgrades and maintenance of the system and sewer rates to help offset the additional debt service for construction of the mandated waste-water treatment plant. These new rates will be reflected on the bill you receive November 1, 2013. The new rate schedule is detailed below.

The sewer rate changes stem from the passage on April 3, 2012 of a $13.75 million bond issue needed to build a government-mandated waste-water treatment plant. Passage of the bond issue clears the way for construction of a new mechanical plant that will replace the city's antiquated lagoon-based system, which no longer meets state and federal standards for removal of ammonia. The bond issue passed with 86% of the votes cast.
