4th Street Project Bids Approved

The Maryville City Council unanimously approved bids for the construction of the 4th Street Improvement Project, Phase I, STP-4303 (101). Orr Wyatt Streetscapes provided the winning bid.
Maryville, MO – On Wednesday, May 28th the Maryville City Council unanimously approved bids for the construction of the 4th Street Improvement Project, Phase I, STP-4303 (101). The apparent low bid was provided by Orr Wyatt Streetscapes in the amount of $2,184,069.61. The project is designed to functionally and aesthetically improve the 4th Street corridor between downtown Maryville and the campus of Northwest Missouri State University.

The accepted bid for the project includes the following elements: Construction of a ten (10) foot wide shared bicycle/pedestrian trail along the north side from downtown to Northwest Missouri State University, major safety modification at the Dunn intersection, waterline replacement from Buchanan to west of Walnut, ADA compliant crosswalks and curb ramps, significant landscaping including street trees, decorative light poles and brick pillars to match downtown, new driveway approaches, storm sewer work, two inch (2”) asphalt mill and overlay from Main to Dunn, stamped and colored concrete strips and “bump outs” along the west side of 4th & Buchanan intersection to support wayfinding signage, Northwest Missouri State University gateway entry feature, Bearcat Paw print pavement markings, university branded medallions for decorative light poles, benches, trash receptacles, and public art pedestals.

The 4th Street Improvement Project, Phase I is listed in the Maryville Comprehensive Plan and the Downtown Strategic Plan as a critical project for the community. According to the plans, improvements to the corridor are crucial for the safety of pedestrians, recruitment/retention of students, economic vitality of downtown, and overall quality of life. The project is made possible through funding partnerships with Northwest Missouri State University, Missouri Department of Transportation, Missouri Department of Economic Development, and Capital Improvement Sales Tax Funds. A pre-construction meeting will be scheduled for June with substantial completion planned in November.
